Play Partners is a social group that has been in existence at Pediatric Therapy Partners for 12 years, and is designed to develop social and play skills in a small group setting. We use art, music, movement and sensory strategies to engage the students in a motivating way. It was designed in response to parent requests and therapist observations of the skills that were most challenging to develop, and most important in a school setting.
Social and play skills may seem simple, but they are very complex and many children require facilitation to be effective “play partners” while they are learning. That is the reason our groups are led by occupational and speech therapists specializing in the development of play and social skills. In addition, we keep our groups small with a ratio of no more than 3:1. Being able to promote social and play skills during an organic interaction is the best way for the skills the children learn to generalize to other settings. With the small group size, we are also able to be very specific about the goals that are addressed and tailor it to the children that are in that particular session.
Play Partners takes place on Fridays from 1-2:30If you have a child that you think may benefit from a group to promote social or play skills, just call PTP at 614-433-0132 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
